In 1925, a hundred years ago, the National Prize for Literature in Spain was awarded to two poets who would later become known as participants in the Silver Age of Spanish poetry: Gerardo Diego and Rafael Alberti. This article is dedicated to bringing together the two award-winning books: "Versos Humanos" and "Marinero en Tierra," based on thematic and stylistic analysis of the sonnets present in both works. The study of these sonnets aims to clarify how one of the most famous fixed forms in Western literature was approached by Spanish poets during the period of the European artistic avant-garde. Both authors combine innovation and tradition in their compositions, sometimes drawing on classical and late 19th-century structures, and at other times, mainly in syntax and in the elaboration of images to aesthetic tendencies of the 20th century.
