Abstract

The present work is the result of the Curricular Extension Activity 01 developed in the Library Science Course. The action "Literary Gossip - reading and textual production" was elaborated, aiming to encourage reading and textual production in high school students from public schools in Maceió, with a potential improvement in the performance of high school students in entrance exams, such as the National High School Exam (ENEM). To achieve this, four stages were developed: purpose of the action, survey of the involved community, content to be developed, and the dynamics of the action. It is concluded that the Literary Gossip action provided the involved students with an understanding of the importance of curricularized university extension, the various types of extension, relevant legislation regarding extension, as well as the potential societal transformation stemming from this action, along with a broad perspective for their future professional endeavors.
