Abstract

This article presents an extension project implemented in a regular course of the Chemical Engineering program, using a board game developed collaboratively by students, focused on the sugar-energy industry as the central theme of the proposal. The main objectives of the project were: to enhance the teaching and learning of essential concepts in the course; to foster collaborative skills through the design and execution of the game; and to integrate university knowledge with the community, gamifying the dissemination of information about the profession of Chemical Engineering and the academic experience. The results demonstrate the potential of game-based learning to improve the quality of education, as well as to spark the interest of high school students in higher education and transversal themes, such as sustainability. Despite several challenges faced during the implementation of the project in the course, the results were largely positive, highlighting the effectiveness of the project in achieving the proposed objectives.
