Abstract
This work aims to investigate the construction of ethos and discursive memory in Lula's victory speech upon being elected president in the latest presidential election of 2022. The focus is on French discourse analysis, considering the theoretical contributions of Michel Pêcheux (1997) regarding memory, and of Patrick Charaudeau (2015) and Ruth Amossy (2020) on ethos. The methodology employed is qualitative analysis, based on the selection of certain linguistic materials according to the meanings/interpretations of the utterances made. Through the proposed object, we identify the construction of various ethos, such as the "ethos of credibility," "ethos of identification," which constitute a strengthening of self-image, built by the politician himself with the intention of influencing the audience.
