Abstract
Sleep has been extensively studied in recent years, mainly because it is considered a fundamental component of general health. Thus, the present study aimed to identify factors associated with sleep duration among adolescents in the state of Pernambuco. This is a cross-sectional epidemiological study, whose sample consisted of 6,002 high school students (14-19 years old). Data were collected through a questionnaire. To assess sleep duration, information regarding the number of hours of sleep on the 7 days of the week was used. Binary logistic regression was performed, assuming a significance level of p<0.05. It was found that around 59% reported sleeping less than 8 hours. Of these, the majority were girls, adolescents who study in schools in the full-time education network, and adolescents who work. Thus, it is concluded that biological and social factors may be associated with young people's insufficient sleep time.
