TJRS Plain Language Guide as an Educational Product: perceptions from the Court's internal audience

Implementing Simple Language in the Judiciary is a challenge because it implies changing a culture that is strongly present and rooted, so that communicating in the judicial sphere is almost synonymous with speaking difficult and using far-fetched terms in the Portuguese language. The objective of this article is to analyze the acceptance of the Educational Product, Guia of Simple Language among the internal public of the TJRS, Court of Justice of Rio Grande do Sul, in the context of the implementation of Simple Language in that Court. It is noteworthy that a multidisciplinary working group prepared the Guia from the TJRS itself. This scientific investigation was theoretically based on Kaplun (2002) and Gomes (2001) and consists of a literature review and quantitative and qualitative analysis of the Product testing for a heterogeneous group of Court members. The conclusion is that the Product has been accepted and is able to be used successfully to achieve the main objective, which is the implementation of Simple Language in administrative and judicial communications of the Court.
