Abstract

This article presents a review of the literature that converges on theoretical and practical studies of Thesauruses and their interactions with Information Architecture. The topic is located in the approaches and concepts of Information Architecture and Knowledge Organization Systems. The general objective aimed to identify articles published in the last 11 years and indexed in the Web of Science, BRAPCI (Reference Database of Journal Articles in Information Science) and SCOPUS databases. The Integrative Bibliographic Review guided the methodology and the systematization of inclusion and exclusion criteria combined with the quantitative and qualitative approach and content analysis. In this way, 24 articles were retrieved, including: 17 retrieved from Web of Science, 5 from SCOPUS and 2 from BRAPCI. After reading articles and applying the exclusion and inclusion criteria, articles were selected that make up the sample of literature presented. The data highlighted authors, theoretical and practical findings, in addition to trends observed in studies over the last 2 decades. It concluded that the compiled literature presents thesauri in the context of Information Architecture as representation schemes and knowledge organization systems responsible for enabling the retrieval of information in digital information environments, adding other perspectives different from those traditional environments (libraries and document centers).
